MC Building Physics
Hierarchy for BP

An ethos for a high performance built environment

Making the best use of natural resources requires that the industry deliver a built environment that -:

  • Satisfies the needs of its occupants and also engages them.
  • Demands the minimum energy in order to meet those needs.
  • Meets that energy demand in the most efficient manner.
  • Integrates Low and Zero Carbon (LZC) systems in the most effective way.
  • Can readily be operated as its design intended it to be.

This is similar in principle to the Government's preferred hierarchy of energy efficiency then carbon compliance then allowable solutions but places much greater emphasis on a bedrock of building owner and user buy in.

When adopted this emphasis will allow any efforts for “zero carbon” to be less costly and more practical to achieve.

How MC Building Physics supports this ethos

MC Building Physics provides answers to design questions at all stages of the design process and post occupancy. A flexible, adaptable but systematic approach is used with a project plan clearly defining -:

  • The design question
  • The answers required
  • How those answers will be presented

The plan specifies the most appropriate tools in terms of accuracy, timescale and cost with simple methods used if sufficient and innovative methods devised if necessary. All work undertaken is produced according to a quality system.
