Advanced studies
The next step after a packaged study would be identifying Zero level package items that require greater detail. Simple, quick methods can yield good answers but for greater detail more powerful tools are required.
MC Building Physics can also supervise or design physical testing of many design features and would be very pleased to discuss your requirements
Feasibility studies MC Building Physics can investigate feasibility for most aspects of the built environment including fabric, fenestration and shading, conventional systems and renewable energy systems. Feasibility of a design feature can be evaluated against a number of criteria including -:
Lifecycle costs can be considered in terms of the capital and operational. Developing new tools If existing tools won't answer the question then MC Building Physics can develop a new one e.g. a spreadsheet application or a modification to an existing tool. Of particular interest are tools for non-specialists to aid decision making both in the design and in the operation of buildings. ![]() |
Answering design questions See this section for examples of design questions and how they might be answered. Thermal performance values for construction details The 2010 revision to the NCM[16] places greater importance on the effect of thermal bridging in construction details. Standards such as Passivhaus also make the calculation of accurate thermal bridging values central to the process. Using appropriate tools we can calculate the performance parameters of these details for Regulations purposes. ![]() |
